“Score for Whistle II”
Score for Whistle II is the second score in a series where graphic designer Elena Op ‘t Eynde attempts to finds ways to translate Aeolian sounds into a graphic notation. Aeolian sound, also known as wind tones, are sounds produced when wind passes through or around (natural) formations. Each experimental score was made within the constraints of the medium used: the first was done with letterpress printing, the second was created specifically for the lightbox of PG&M. The overarching project is a collaboration between Elena Op ‘t Eynde and artist Ananda Serné, where they each try to find their own language to translate wind tones and, eventually, create a collaborative score in the form of a publication.
Score reading instructions:
Embody the wind.
Aim your whistle at the lightbox to create your Aeolian sound.
Trace the lines with your breath as you exhale.
Let the shapes guide how you form your gust of wind
